A Personal Note from Peggy
|June is doing it’s best to warm up around here. I’m waiting patiently :) and enjoying the fact that there isn’t snow covering my June. I hope you are enjoying a sunny warm June in your part of the world.

A Raving Fan
“Finishing the Goofy and 1/2 Challenge in Disneyworld January 12/13 (the 1/2 marathon on Saturday and the marathon on Sunday) with friends was a great start to 2013!!! It was also a great way to finish up our “12 weeks to a better health challenge” program with Peggy.
I have always eaten well (or so I thought) but had become discouraged with feeling tired and bloated, not losing any weight and having a decreased interest in training.
I have been seeing “Chiropractor Peggy” for several years but have gained much more than relief from minor aches and pains along the way. I joined in the 12 week program and that opened up my eyes to many aspects of my diet that may be contributing to my problems.
Peggy answered my many questions and passed on information, and links to help in my quest for healthier living. She composed a recipe booklet which has been great for simple ideas that are healthier than some other choices I have been making. As much as I balked at the idea of ‘menu planning’, which I have never done, it was a valuable tool especially since I was having trouble with my eating routine while doing shift work. Now I am much more organized and less anxious about what to take for nights or for evenings when I am not hungry.
Peggy reinforced the need to know what to look for when reading food labels… I have a way to go with that part of it but have learned some basics and that has been helpful. I am being much more accountable for my food/beverage choices and have been reading some of the books Peggy recommended along the way.
The help with mental preparation for my races has been a huge part of Peggy’s commitment to a healthier me and an area I value as much as the cracks and pokes at my appointments.
Peggy has become my “one stop health guru” who has helped me physically and mentally train for and complete numerous events, including my first 1/2 Ironman in 2009 and most recently Goofy. She has been helping me get out of my health rut and so far so good!!
As for my long range plans of an Ironman for 2016, Dr. Peggy will be #1 on my list of support people for that venture! (or whatever else we get into)!”

Have you ever considered how your mindset affects your health?

Today’s article takes a fascinating look at how making a change in your health is very dependent on your mindset.
Fun in the Kitchen with Dr Peggy
2 ripe avocados
1/4 cup unsweetened cacao powder
3 tbsps of coconut milk or almond milk
3 tbsps of maple syrup or raw honey
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
pinch of cinnamon
pinch of sea salt
1. Put the flesh of the avocado in a food processor.
2. Add cacao, coconut / almond milk, maple syrup, vanilla extract, cinnamon and sea salt and process until creamy.
Enjoy this creamy and dreamy and healthy dessert!
