Book Review – Archangel – Gerald Seymour

Michael Holly is an engineer who is asked to pass on a package during a visit to Russia. He is caught, convicted as a spy and sent to a harsh prison for 15 years.

The story begins after Holly is convicted but before he arrives at prison. Intercut with the background of what happened, and who Holly is as a person, the story flows quickly and powerfully. This is a book that was nearly impossible to put down. A fantastic story, one that I hope to read again and again. Reminded me of the way Nelson DeMille has written some books, informative yet never boring. Seymour avoids the obvious and instead creates one of the best novels I have read in years. Very powerful and moving.
