Myron Bolitar is a sports agent whose latest client is star quarterback Christian Steele. Both are poised to make it to the big leagues. Things are not that simple though. Christian‘s former girlfriend went missing a couple of years ago and recently her father was murdered. To make things more twisted, the missing girl is the sister of Myron’s ex girlfriend Jessica. So along with his best friend Windsor Horne Lockwood III, or Win to his friends, Myron trues to unravel the threads of the mystery before him.
Firstly, it has to be said that Mr Coben creates, and writes great thrillers, often hiding the truth until the very end. He populates Myron Bolitar‘s world with colourful characters who are just believable as well as being almost not believable. Bolitar is a great, but Win is like a guilty pleasure. Win, and it is hard not to revel too much about him, is someone who you probably shouldn’t like but you can’t help but liking. Read Deal Breaker and you still see what I mean.
Deal Breaker introduced Myron, Win, and the whole cast of characters to readers and has continued to feature in several books. Harlan Coben also has written many stand alone novels that are just as enjoyable to read. If you enjoy thrillers, with a little mystery, humour, and fun characters, read Harlan Coben, and if you are going to, you start at the beginning, with Deal Breaker. You won’t regret it.
