Book Review – San Andres – Alistair MacLean

A hospital ship during World War II is attacked by a German plane as the crew of the ship discover that there are more forces against them than just the winter sea.

This is a classic Alistair MacLean book. Great characters, a superb plot and all the trademarks of what made MacLean a very talented writer. The action and tension builds as the plot unfolds. As with many of the better MacLean books, the action stays around one place only, the ship, allowing for the reader to concentrate on the action rather than the location.

While the writing style is slightly dated, it still holds up to today’s best. San Andres, like many of Alistair MacLean‘s books is a straight forward, action packed novel, pretty much unputdownable.
