As If We Didn't Know

I’ve had a few healthy chats recently about wether or not people instinctively understand objective morality.

I think some things (the grey areas) are subjective and can be taught… for example, some believe it’s wrong to drink alcohol, some don’t. I also think that in the core of our genetic design we are able to determine ultimately the difference between right and wrong. This is the one thing that separates us from animals. No we are not animals. Animals eat their own young with no guilt association. We may be mammals, but we are not animals. I believe the Bible is the building block or moral objection, a really good guide to help, but I think we were made with the ability to know the difference between right and wrong.

In the end I think it’s not even worth wasting energy on this sort of debate, but I’m writing this because I wrote a song about it. “And I know why, I let it all go, and I know why I’ve moved so slow, and I know why I’ve pushed the status quo, and I know why… I just don’t know” :)

Enjoy!
