UNICH, Dusan “Daniel” of Terrace Lodge. Aylmer and formerly of St. Thomas and Wallacetown, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, July 16th, 2013, at his late residence, in his 94th year. Beloved husband of Betty Unich and the late Anna (Burek). Dear father of Bruce Unich (Barbara) of Calgary, Vera Unich of St. Thomas and Brian Unich (Sheri) of St. Mary’s and step-father of Cathy Green (Jim) , and Mary Patriquin (Randy) , all of St. Thomas. Loved grandfather of Lise and Jeff Unich, Dianne Myers, John Temple, Michelle Carnegie, Shawn Patriquin, Isla and Jillian Unich. Sadly missed by a number of great grandchildren and nieces andnephews. Dear brother of Milan Unich and the late Desa Mesic and Raka Unich . Daniel was born in Yugoslavia on June 16, 1920, the son of the late Blagoje and Julka Unich. He was a retired farmer. Daniel served in W.W.II and was a prisoner of war for 4 years. He graduated in music from University.
Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas where funeral service will be held Friday at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Evergreen Cemetery, West Lorne. Visitation Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
The Williams Funeral Home was founded in 1893 by P.R. Williams and is one of the oldest Funeral businesses in the province. Over the next seven decades the business was passed down through several generations in the Williams Family. In the eariler years they occupied a number of different buildings along Talbot Street and in 1929 they purchased the building at 45 Elgin Street, from which they still operate.
In 1966, Gordon Hughson, who had operated the Hughson Funeral Home in Aylmer for the previous twenty one years, purchased the funeral home and continued the long tradition of dedication and service. Currently, the funeral home is operated by his sons, Allan and Gary Hughson.
