Walker, Clarence McAdam of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully, on Friday, August 23rd, 2013, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in his 93rd year. Beloved husband of Ethel Fern (Dunn). Loved father of Paul Walker (Kim) of St. Thomas, Valerie Phillips (Buck) of Manitoulin Island, Janette Walker (Keith Holtby) of St. Thomas, Mark Walker (Lori Gardner) of Chatham, Chris Walker (Mary Kay) of London and Scott Walker of St. Thomas. Predeceased by 2 children Lori Caughell (husband Jeff of Dutton) and Joanne Walker. Dear brother of Howard Walker (Rosemary) of London and the late Hubert and Carl Walker. Sadly missed by a number of grandchildren, great grandchildren and a great, great grandson and several nieces and nephews. Clarence was born in Westminster Township on December 14th, 1920, the son of the late Percy and Nettie Jane (Lawson) Walker. He served in the army during W.W.II. Clarence was a former Lions Club member and the Oddfellows.
The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas where funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. Cremation has taken place. Visitation at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-5 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the charity of choice.
The Williams Funeral Home was founded in 1893 by P.R. Williams and is one of the oldest Funeral businesses in the province. Over the next seven decades the business was passed down through several generations in the Williams Family. In the eariler years they occupied a number of different buildings along Talbot Street and in 1929 they purchased the building at 45 Elgin Street, from which they still operate.
In 1966, Gordon Hughson, who had operated the Hughson Funeral Home in Aylmer for the previous twenty one years, purchased the funeral home and continued the long tradition of dedication and service. Currently, the funeral home is operated by his sons, Allan and Gary Hughson.
