Wells, Betty of Valleyview Home


Wells, Betty of Valleyview Home, St. Thomas, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, September 25th, 2013, in her 91st year. Beloved wife of the late Murray A. Wells and dearly loved mother of Butch and his wife Kelly Wells of St. Thomas.  Much loved grandmother of Blake, Andy (Brittany) and Kelsey. Dear sister of the late Samuel and Alexander Tully. Betty was born in Yorkshire, England on March 27th, 1923, the daughter of the late Alexander and Harriet (Wraith) Tully. She worked over 42 years for A. and P. Betty was a kind and generous and was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend. She was famous for her Harvey Wallbanger cakes.

A private family service will be held. Cremation, with interment of ashes in Elmdale Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to Christmas Care. Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas in charge of arrangements.

Williams Funeral Home
The Williams Funeral Home was founded in 1893 by P.R. Williams and is one of the oldest Funeral businesses in the province. Over the next seven decades the business was passed down through several generations in the Williams Family. In the eariler years they occupied a number of different buildings along Talbot Street and in 1929 they purchased the building at 45 Elgin Street, from which they still operate. In 1966, Gordon Hughson, who had operated the Hughson Funeral Home in Aylmer for the previous twenty one years, purchased the funeral home and continued the long tradition of dedication and service. Currently, the funeral home is operated by his sons, Allan and Gary Hughson.
