Celebrating The Arts In Elgin-Middlesex-London

St. Thomas  – Today MPP Jeff Yurek, Elgin-Middlesex-London, recognizes recipients of the 2015-16 Ontario Arts Council grants.

“It is my pleasure to recognize all of the recipients from Elgin-Middlesex-London on being successful in receiving a 2015-16 grant from the Ontario Arts Council. Elgin-Middlesex-London had 7 recipients with a total of $42,600 in grant money. I want to take this opportunity to thank the Ontario Arts Council for the role they play in recognizing organizations and individuals across Ontario in the arts.” Stated MPP Yurek Jeff.

The arts play a vital role in Ontario’s communities, enhancing our quality of life and delivering significant economic benefits. Ontario’s arts, culture and heritage sector represents $27.7 billion or 4.1 per cent of the province’s GDP and almost 302,000 jobs.

Today, we acknowledge the work of artists and organizations from Elgin-Middlesex-London who over the past year have received funding from the Ontario Arts Council, the province’s primary funding body for the arts. In 2015-16, a total of $42,600 was awarded to professional artists and arts organizations in Elgin-Middlesex-London.

Julie Berry, Writers’ Reserve, $4,500
David Bobier, Exhibition Assistance. $1,000
Kellen J De Vos, Deaf & Disability Arts – Materials and Supplies Assistance, $500
Leslie Putnam, Exhibition Assistance, $500
