The Elgin-St. Thomas Community Foundation is a local charitable organization that has been building and managing funds to invest in building strong and resilient places to live work and play. They serve all of the people and communities in Elgin County and have been doing so since 2005.
One of their most popular fundraising events is “Expedition Elgin“. This fun filled day is loosely modeled after the popular TV reality show “The Amazing Race” and involves a number of physical challenges and riddle solving.
This year’s event is over half full but if you are interested in participating there is still time to register your team. Teams consist of 4 “contestants” who each register online and agree to fundraise the suggested $100 donation. (just like any charity race.)
There are amazing prizes for top individual fundraisers such as the first prize trip to Montreal with travel supplied by Via Rail, and Accommodations supplied by Starwood and secondary prizes such as an iPad courtesy of Graham Scott Enns and Staples Business Depot or a day of zip lining fun and an observatory pass courtesy of Long Point Eco Adventures
Expedition Elgin takes place Sunday August 12, and is open to anyone willing and able to hike, walk, climb, run, crawl, squirm, and do whatever maneuver required to make their way along a 3 km course. You may get wet, you may get dirty, YOU WILL HAVE FUN!!! PRE–REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED, and can be done through their website www.escf.ca . Participants will be notified to make their way to a secret location on the day of the event to receive their first clue that will start them off on their way to the first checkpoint.
In the mean time check them out on facebook https://www.facebook.com/pages/Elgin-St-Thomas-Community-Foundation/ and see how you can get involved in this or other events being held by the Elgin St. Thomas Community Foundation.
