This is the End

A celebrity filled party at James Franco’s house takes a turn for the worse when the apocalypse begins unexpectedly.

James Franco, Jonah Hill, Seth Rogen, Jay Baruchel, Danny McBride, Craig Robinson, Michael Cera, Emma Watson, Mindy Kaling, David Krumholtz, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Rihanna, Paul Rudd and Channing Tatum are among many who appear as themselves in this movie. Hopefully some of the characteristics exhibited are made up but in essence this is a movie about movie actors, played by those movie actors they are portraying.

With the current trend of rude, crude comedies of the last few years showing no evidence of slowing down, This is the End possibly takes the trend to a new level. It is not for everyone as many may be offended by the langauge or subject matter but, for those who are not, it is hilariously funny.

Various characters are killed off in fun and interesting ways and while there are lulls in the silliness and action, the movie is vastly enjoyable.

This is the End may not be for everyone but for those it appeals to, this is easily the funniest movie of the year so far although with another end of the world movie being released later this year starring Simon Pegg and Nick Frost (The Worlds End) who knows how long this will last.

Nathan Leeds

Nathan is originally from Cardiff, Wales, and was imported to Canada as a internet mail order groom in 1998 and has managed to avoid deportation ever since. Even though sometimes mis-interpreted, possibly to retaining a Welsh accent, he continues to try his best to make a difference to the community he has grown to love.
