Make Someone Smile Day

Monday SUCKS. Seriously, is there another day that inspires more dread? Has anyone ever said, ‘Oh goodie, it’s Monday today!’. After two relaxing days, it’s back to the grindstone, struggling to remember what you are supposed to be doing. More computer passwords are forgotten on a Monday than any other day!

Don’t believe that Monday sucks, let’s have a look at songs with Monday in the title and count those that are happily looking forward to the ‘M’ day!

Manic Monday? No. Blue Monday? No. Rainy Days and Mondays Always Make Me Blue? No. I don’t like Mondays? No.

You see, there is a trend here. No one likes Mondays, it isn’t just you!

Why don’t we work together to make Mondays more acceptable, if not outright enjoyable. Turn Monday into Make Someone Smile Day.

It is very easy to make someone smile. You can hold the door open for them, let a car into traffic, and perhaps the simplest, smile. Smiles can be contagious. If you see someone smiling at you, it can be difficult, if not downright impossible, not to return the smile. Did you know that if you smile while talking on the phone, the person on the other end of the phone can often tell.

According to pop science on the internet, it takes less facial muscles to smile than it does to frown. It may be true, it may not, but surely making those muscles form a smile is worth the effort? Yes it is and don’t call me Shirley!

What if you get out of the wrong side of bed? We are all grumpy now and again, it is hard to avoid it but perhaps we can do something about it. If you get up, feel grumpy, miserable, or generally not happy, get in the shower and belt out your favourite show tune! How can you not smile while singing something like 76 trombones?

Mondays make up one seventh of your life, and you can’t waste that much time of your life being down so come one, lets make Mondays better for both you and me!
