Male charged in shop theft


A 20 year old St. Thomas man was arrested on Sunday June 23, 2013 shortly after 6:00pm after a brief foot chase. He was charged with theft after stealing $11.56 worth of energy drinks from a local department store. He was released from the scene with a future court date.

Rosethorn Park – Drug Issues

Rosethorn Park is situated in the area of Highview Drive and Sifton Drive. Inside the park is a natural storm water pond which has become an area for drug related offences. Parks and Recreations crews have been advised by users of the park about used needles being left behind. For the past week St. Thomas Police have been concentrating on this area conducting multiple patrols throughout the night. On Saturday June 22 a suspicious vehicle was reported by a citizen resulting in two male being charged with possession of a controlled substance and two more fled the scene. St. Thomas Police are working closely with the City’s Parks and Recreation Staff to rectify this issue and will continue to be vigilant with patrols. Residents in the area, particularly those that back on to the park are being asked to please report any suspicious activity day or night. St. Thomas Police will continue to ensure St. Thomas is a desirable, secure and safe place in which to live, work, and play.
