Lynds, LeRoy of St. Thomas, passed away on Thursday, January 12th, 2017, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, at the age of 79. Beloved husband of Winnifred (Dunnill) and loved father of Scott (Marlene), Judy Martindale (Brent), Jason (Tammy Peters) and Justin (Kara). Cherished grandfather of Chelsey Brooks (Erik), D.J. Lynds, Blake and Clayton Martindale. Dear brother of Lawrence and Roland, Janetta (Adams), Linda (McNutt), Lorraine and Sharon Lynds. Predeceased by brothers, Lloyd and Hartley and one sister Helen (Blom). LeRoy was born on September 15, 1937, in Earltown, Nova Scotia, the son of the late Beatrice and Hartley Lynds. Revelation 21:4 And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry, nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away. LeRoy worked as a lumberjack in Nova Scotia. In Ontario, he was a truck driver for Tank Truck Transport, Sarnia and N.J. Spivak Ltd., London. He was the caretaker at The Kettle Creek Villa for several years. LeRoy was a very hard-working, self-sacrificing, humble and generous man. He loved the sound of a well-tuned engine: a 396 horsepower muscle car, a Harley, or a Mack diesel. His legacy to his children is a strong work ethic. He was very proud of all their accomplishments. His great pleasure in his retirement years was spending time with his grandchildren and was happy to see them all grow up to be good, responsible adults. There will be a private family memorial service on Saturday, January 14, 2017, with Doug Hepburn officiating. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be a made to the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital. Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas in charge of arrangements.
