Apperson, Dorothy of Port Perry and formerly of St. Thomas, passed away on Tuesday, June 10th, 2014, at the Community Hospital, Port Perry at the age of 92. Dearly loved mother of Dianne Kanstrup and husband Henning of B.C., Douglas and his wife Carol Apperson of Sunderland and the late Terry Apperson. Loved grandmother of Chelsea Kanstrup and step-grandmother of Heather and Ron Clarke and Chris McLean. Beloved step great grandmother to Braylen and Ashton Clarke. Dear sister of Jack Simons and the late Bob, Gordon and Fred Simons. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Dorothy was born in Regina, Saskatchewan on September 16, 1921, the daughter of the late Frank and Lavina (Shawcross) Simons. She came to St. Thomas in 1967 and was formerly of Regina, Toronto, London and Ottawa. She was a retired Court Administrator and J.P. of Provincial Courts. Dorothy was a member of First United Church and the I.O.D.E. She served in the R.C.A.F. (Women’s Division) during W.W. II.
A memorial service to celebrate Dorothy’s life will be held at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. Entombment of ashes to take place in the wall at South Park Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday from 12:00-1:00 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the Salvation Army.
