Bailey, Mary (McKillop) of Bobier Nursing Home, Dutton and formerly of St. Thomas passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 16th, 2014, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in her 95th year. Beloved wife of the late Murray Bailey (1993) and dearly loved mother of Marilyn Moore (Grant) and Nancy Chappel, all of St. Thomas. Much loved grandmother of Michael L. Moore (Jody), Ellen Moore, Jeffrey Moore, Paul Chappel (Maria) and Allison Simpson (Shawn) and great grandmother of Reagan and Jordan Moore, Emily Moore and Alex and Georgia Simpson. Dear sister of the late Duncan K. McKillop and his wife Lilias, Russell Allison (late Jean), and the late Cela Sloan (late George) and sister-in-law of the late Lloyd and George Bailey and the late Catherine Bailey. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Mary was born in Wallacetown on October 10, 1919, the daughter of the late John Byron and Cela (McRae) McKillop. She was a retired school teacher with the Elgin County Board of Education. Mary was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and the Retired Women Teachers Association. She was a member of Central United Church and the WoHeLo Group.
The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Mary’s life will be held at Central United Church, Wellington St., St. Thomas on Friday at 11:00 a.m. Private family interment in Sparta Cemetery. Flowers gratefully declined. Remembrances may be made to the Central United Church Roof Fund or charity of choice.
