Ballantyne, Margaret – It is with sadness that our family announces the passing of our beloved mother Margaret, peacefully in her sleep in the early hours of December 25th, 2014 at Valleyview Home, in St. Thomas. Mom was in her 96th year and is now hopefully taking a walk along the Blackpool promenade with her late husband George and son Robert , who predeceased her in 2002. Loving and proud mother of Steve (Cheryl) Ballantyne of Dorchester, Krystyna (Mike) Lewis of Bonita Springs Florida, Paul (Patricia) Ballantyne of St. Thomas, Barbara (Gordon) Horman of Toronto, Phillip (Janet) Ballantyne of St. Thomas. She was the doting  grandmother to Michael Moore, Jessica and Shannon Lewis, Krista, Jordon and Jeremy Ballantyne,  Danielle and Kathleen Horman, Brennan, Emily and Devin Ballantyne and Scott, Tracy and Mark Ballantyne.  Mom has left a legacy of 10 great grandchildren. She is survived also by a sister Joan and sister-in-law Hilda, as well as several nieces and nephews in Blackpool. Margaret was born in Blackpool, England on August 12th, 1919. She was a member of Holy Angels’ Church and a longtime member of the Catholic Women’s League.

According to Mom’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Friends and relatives are invited to the Mass of the Christian Burial at Holy Angels’ Church on January 17th, 2015 (Saturday) at 10:00 a.m. Private interment of ashes in Holy Angels’ Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Holy Angels Church Restoration Fund, the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Valleyview Home Recreation Fund. Condolences may be sent to ahughson@exculink.com . The family wished to acknowledge and thank excellent staff of Valleyview Home for their care and compassion, CCAC for their assistance and Ms. Judy Bennett, Mom and Dad’s special caregiver over the past years.
