Burnham, Marguerite Jean (Crocker)

Burnham – Marguerite Jean (Crocker) of Caressant Care Mary Bucke, St. Thomas passed away peacefully at her late residence, surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, December 8th, 2015, in her 76th year. Beloved wife of the late John Allan “Ted” Burnham (2014) and dearly loved mother of Jeanne McLaws, Barbara Ann Nancekivell and her husband Chris, and Steve Burnham. Cherished grandmother of Darren (Alicia) McLaws, Brad and Elizabeth McLaws, Zachary, Jessy (Kimber) and Ethan Nancekivell and great-grandmother of Ayden, Xander and Logan Nancekivell and Kenzie McLaws. Dear sister of Susan (Bill) Shurish, Betty Ann (Bill) Schleihauf, Dan (Sharron) Crocker, Nancy O’Neil, Mary Lou Crocker and Kit Crocker. Lovingly remembered by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Jean was born in Dunwich Township on February 12th, 1940, daughter of the late Dan and Phyllis (Smith) Crocker. She was a retired teacher who taught for the Elgin Catholic School Board. Jean was a member of Holy Angels’ Catholic Church.  She was a member of the Catholic Women’s League.

Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin Street, St. Thomas where visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9pm.  Prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Friday at 4:00pm. Mass of the Christian Burial will be held at Holy Angels’ Church on Saturday morning at 10:00am.  Interment to follow in Holy Angels’ Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation, Arthritis Society or Canadian Diabetes Association. Online condolences may be sent to ahughson@execulink.com

    Mrs. Burnham was one of my most favourite teachers. Very warm and understanding and she was a friend. She will be missed.
