BURTON: Mrs. Dorothy B. “Dot” (nee Ross)

BURTON, Mrs. Dorothy B. “Dot” (nee Ross), of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Saturday, May 2, 2015, in her 91st year. She had been a resident of Metcalfe Gardens. She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Kenneth James “Ken” Burton (1995), her dear sister, Jean Exley, and dear brothers, Don and Larry Ross. Dot is fondly remembered by her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Born in Dutton, ON, August 16, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Verne and Lillian (nee Bates) Ross. Dot was an employee of Canadian Timken for 36 years. She was a member of First United Church, St. Thomas. As a member and Past Regent of Flying Officer Kenneth Lucas Chapter, I.O.D.E., St. Thomas she chaired their fashion shows for many years. She was also a former member of the St. Thomas Curling Club and the St. Thomas Golf & Country Club, as well as an avid bridge player. A public graveside service will be held at Sparta Cemetery on Thursday, May 21st at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception at the St. Thomas Golf & Country Club. Memorial donations to the Elgin Military Museum or Animal Aide will be gratefully acknowledged. Arrangements entrusted to the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160).
