D’Arcangelo, Anna Maria (nee Di Renzo)

D’ARCANGELO, Mrs. Anna Maria (nee Di Renzo), passed away peacefully at Valleyview Home, St. Thomas on Wednesday, November 30, 2016, in her 91st year.  Wife of the late Giustino D’Arcangelo (1993).  Mother of the late Anthony D’Arcangelo (2014).  She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Elena D’Arcangelo and was a cherished Nonna to Mark D’Arcangelo (Helen), Danielle Jones (Matt) and Andrea Lindsay (Jesse). She will be sadly missed by her 6 great-grandchildren, Jadrien and Marlee D’Arcangelo, Cuyler and Brennan Jones and Averie and Niyla Lindsay.  Dear sister of Donato Di Renzo (Elisa), Eugenio Di Renzo (Assunta), Claudina D’Arcangelo (late Sante), Iolanda Iarvese (Giovanni), Sanda D’Arcangelo (late Rocco) and the late Ottavio and late Giuseppe Di Renzo.  Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Born on February 2, 1926 to the late Giovanni and Felicietta Di Renzo, she was the first of their 7 children and was raised in Italy.  She began her life living on a farm and went on to meet her future husband, whom she fell in love with.  They later eloped in 1946.  In 1951, Giustino came to Canada to make a better life for his wife and young son.  He worked on a farm in West Lorne and two years later Anna and Anthony immigrated to Canada to be together.  Anna later began working at Memorial Hospital and then onto Elgin Manor, until she retired.  Her hobbies included cooking, sewing, knitting, gardening and enjoying her time with her precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She will be fondly remembered by her family and friends at Valleyview Home, where she lived during her last few years.  Relatives and friends will be received by the family at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington Street, St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Friday, December 2nd from 6-9 p.m. (Prayers at 5:45 p.m.) The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church, St. Thomas on Saturday, December 3rd, 2016 at 10:00 a.m.  Interment in Holy Angels’ Cemetery.  Memorial donations to Valleyview Home (CP Place Recreation Dept.) gratefully acknowledged.
