Deane, Gladys Celia
Deane, Gladys Celia of Extendicare, Port Stanley and formerly of London, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 17th, 2013, at her late residence, in her 93rd year. Beloved wife of the late William Deane and dearly loved mother of Mary Lou Deane (Bruce Henderson) of Union and Robert Deane (Miriam Steffens) of London. Loved grandmother of Michelle Tredwell (Jamie), Bill Hooghiem (Diane) and Emily and Marley Deane and great grandmother of Jaedyn, Megan, T.J., Noah and Darren, Cole and Jordan. Gladys was the last of her family. She was born in Bangor, Saskatchewan on November 21, 1920, the daughter of the late David and Margaret (Lewis) Roberts. She was a retired Constable with the Court House, London and also worked as a hairdresser at the Dearness Home, London for many years. Gladys was a member of Colborne United Church and formerly a member of Empress United Church, London.
A Public Memorial service to celebrate Gladys’s life will be held at Colborne United Church, London on Saturday at 11:00 a.m. Cremation has taken place, with private interment of ashes in Mount Pleasant Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer Society or the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas in charge of arrangements.
