DeCorte-Catherine of Terrace Lodge, Aylmer and formerly of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully, on Tuesday, December 16th, 2014, at her late residence, in her 89th year. Beloved wife of the late William DeCorte  (2003) and much loved mother of Ria Kitts (Dean) of Union, Tony DeCorte (Rose) of R.R. 2 St. Thomas, Murray DeCorte (Kathy) of R.R. 2 St. Thomas, Ida McCallum (Dave) of R.R. 1 Iona Station and Karen Kerkvliet (Perry) of New Sarum. Cherished Oma of Jamie Kitts (Sarah), Paul Kitts, Megan Kitts (Warren), Matthew DeCorte (Steph), Amy DeCorte (Ian), Jenna DeCorte, Bridget Weibe (Jerry), Mary Zomer (Brian), Rachel Kitchenham (Josh), Robert McCallum (Callista), Keith McCallum (Cassandra), Michael McCallum (Kacey), Stephanie Kerkvliet (Gord),  Scott and Clay Kerkvliet and great Oma of Nicholas, Everett, Lucas and Hudson.  Predeceased by her son Murray and her granddaughter Katie. She will also be sadly missed by all her family in Holland. Catherine was born in Holland on March 26th, 1926, the daughter of the late Anton and Hendrika (Rovers) Vanderweijst. She was a founding member of St. Anne’s Church and a longtime member of the Catholic Women’s League. Catherine farmed with her husband.

The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas on Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Thursday at 4:00 p.m. The Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anne’s Church on Friday morning at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Holy Angels’ Cemetery.
