OptimistDERROUGH, Arthur D. “Art”, of Port Stanley, passed away peacefully at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on Monday, March 23, 2015, at the age of 86. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy (nee Hyde) Derrough (2011). Beloved father of Michael Derrough (Lisa). Dear grandfather of JuliAnn Derrough, and Brad Derrough (Alicia). Cherished great grandfather of Aubrey and Hadley. Loved brother of Ken Derrough, Judy Donnelly (Wayne), Caroline McDonald, Donna Jean Charters, Della Derrough, Pat Jamieson (Ian), and the late Kay Lampman-McArthur. Dear brother-in-law of Helen Mellows. Also fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews and friends. Born in St. Thomas, ON, March 3, 1929, he was the son of the late Arthur D. and Blanche (nee Phylmore) Derrough. Art was a member of Port Stanley United Church. He was a former member of Last Post Branch #410, Royal Canadian Legion, Port Stanley, a charter and life member of the Optimist Club of St. Thomas and the Optimist Club of Port Stanley, a member of the Optimist Club of Union/South Yarmouth, and a former Vice-President of Optimist International. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no public visitation or funeral service. Private interment of his cremated remains will be made in Fairview Cemetery, Dutton. Memorial donations to the Christie Rose Scholarship Fund or the Canadian Children’s Optimist Foundation gratefully acknowledged. The Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) is entrusted with arrangements.

  7. R.I.P Art…he was a great man. My very first boss. I worked for him from the time I was 12 yrs old until I was 16. He was so nice.
