GILBERT: Paul Futcher

GILBERT, Paul Futcher, of St. Thomas, passed away at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Sunday, March 22, 2015, in his 78th year. Dear brother of Bernice Frederick (James W. “Jim”) of St. Thomas. Loved uncle of James G. “Jim” Frederick (Rachelle), Joel Frederick, and Darryl Frederick, and great uncle of Alex, Sine, Mallory, Olivia, and Leo Frederick, all of St. Thomas. Born in Southwold Twp., ON, November 4, 1937, he was the son of the late Bernie and Agnes (nee Futcher) Gilbert. A retired employee of the Elgin Co-Op, Paul also formerly farmed. He was a member of St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church, St. Thomas, and a life member of the Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association. Paul sang in choirs at St. Anne’s Parish, as well as at Christ Church (Anglican), Port Stanley. He also sang in the Lunch Bunch Choir. Relatives and friends will be received by the family at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160) on Wednesday afternoon, March 25th from 2:00-5:00 p.m. (Prayers at 4:45 p.m.). The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anne’s Roman Catholic Church, St. Thomas on Thursday, March 26th at 11:00 a.m. Following cremation, private interment in the St. Thomas Cemetery, West Avenue. Memorial donations to St. Joseph’s Health Care Foundation, London or the Canadian Harvard Aircraft Association will be gratefully acknowledged.
