Hillman, Ruth (nee Axson)

HILLMAN, Mrs. Ruth (nee Axson), of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully at the St. Thomas Elgin General Hospital on Wednesday, October 12, 2016, in her 78th year. Beloved wife of Ronald P. Hillman.  Dearly loved mother of Jacqueline Swindall (Steven), Robert Hillman (Mary-Ellen), Joanne Mizon (Don), and Jan Hillman, all of St. Thomas, Raymond Hillman (Elaine) of Calgary, AB, and Judy Brown (Daniel) of Maine, USA.  Dear sister of Frank St. Pierre (late Annette) of Espanola, and the late Carl Axson (Helen of St. Thomas), late Edward Axson, and late Fred Axson.  Also fondly remembered by 16 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren.  Loved by many cousins, nieces and nephews.  Born in Espanola, ON, July 6, 1939, she was the daughter of the late William Axson and late Lena (nee St. Pierre) Axson Hradowyj.  She formerly worked at Brazed Parts, St Thomas.  Ruth was a member of the St. Thomas Seniors’ Centre, the 55+ Club, Port Stanley, and the Independent Order of Foresters.  In keeping with her wishes, cremation has taken place.  Relatives and friends are invited to a celebration of Ruth’s life at the St. Thomas Seniors’ Centre, 225 Chestnut Street, St. Thomas on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Memorial donations to the Canadian Cancer Society gratefully acknowledged.  Arrangements entrusted to the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160).
