Hrushowy, Theodore (Ted)

HRUSHOWY, Theodore (Ted) – of St. Thomas, Ontario passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 15, 2017, in his 95th year. Ted has joined his loving wife Irene (2011) and daughter Linda Rutherford (late Wayne) (2016). Theodore was born in Sifton, Manitoba on May 30, 1922 to Ukrainian immigrants John and Palagia Hrushowy. Ted worked for CN Rail for 41 years, beginning his career as a telegrapher. He retired after 41 years of service. Ted is survived by his son Theodore (Ted) Jr. (Debbie) of Brampton and daughter Louise (Frank) of Mississauga. Ted will be greatly missed by his four grandchildren, Amanda, Andrew (Brampton) Brittany and Wesley (Mississauga). Ted is also survived by brother David Hrushowy of Hornepayne and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Ted is predeceased by brothers, John, William and Henry and sisters Ann, Zenia and Edna. Theodore married Irene in 1946 and they were able to celebrate their 65th wedding anniversary before her death. Ted was a member of St. John’s Anglican Church since moving to St. Thomas in 1962. Ted loved his family above all else. He was always thankful for the kindness showed him by family, friends and neighbours. Another huge thank you goes out to the caregivers of Cooksville Care Centre (Mississauga) where he was affectionately known as “Teddy Bear.” He will be forever loved and missed. Theodore will be resting at WILLIAMS FUNERAL HOME, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas where the funeral service will be held Saturday, January 21st, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Interment in Union Cemetery to follow. Visitation will be at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Elgin or Canadian Mental Health.
