Jillard, Lyle Douglas. It is with saddened hearts that we must say goodbye to Lyle Douglas Jillard. Lyle passed away surrounded by his loving family at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on Friday, November 13th, 2015, in his 70th year. Lyle was the beloved husband of Sue (Kemp) Jillard, devoted father of Shelley (Trevor) Odanski and cherished grandfather of Ethan Odanski. He is survived by sisters, Chris Magoon (late Ken), Susan Hammer (Bruce) and Darlene Jillard, his brothers, Fred (Evie), Len (Megan) and Gavin (Cathy). Dear brother-in-law of Anne Marie (Ashley) Rule and Barry (Donna) Kemp. Lyle is also survived by many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Lyle was predeceased by his parents Fred and Madeline (Anderson) Jillard and his in-laws Bill and Elly Kemp. Lyle was born in Toronto on September 3rd, 1946. He was a dedicated teacher with the Elgin County Board of Education and the Thames Valley District School Board. He was Past President of the St. Thomas Optimist Club and the St. Thomas Optimist Minor Softball League. He was also a former Board Member of Big Brothers St. Thomas-Elgin. Our heartfelt thanks to Janice Purcell and the wonderful chemo team at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital and the staff of the second and fifth floors.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Lyle’s life will be held at Aylmer Baptist Church on Saturday, November 21st at 11:00am. Cremation has taken place with interment of ashes in South Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin Street, St. Thomas on Friday, November 20th from 2-4pm and 7-9pm. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital Chemotherapy Unit or the Canadian Cancer Society. Online condolences may be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org
