Laur-Harley J.

Laur-Harley J. of St. Thomas, passed away on Thursday, October 30th, 2014, at his late residence, in his 92nd year. Beloved husband of the late Thelma E. (Abbott) Laur and dearly loved father of Michael S. Laur of St. Thomas and Philip C. Laur of McCreary, Manitoba. He was the last of his family. Predeceased by a brother Floyd Laur and two sisters Nathella Gray and Leva Halliday. Loved grandfather of Michael, Rebecca (Tom Philippi), Jason (Marj Obedensio), Derek, Amber and Frankie (Bart Scott) and Ruchel (Rob Duckwoth) and great grandfather of Paeton, Hailey, Hunter, Jason, Joy, Kayla, Lexus and Shianne. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Harley was born in Yarmouth Township on August 9th, 1923, the son of the late Harry and Jennie (Maynard) Laur. He was owner and operator of Laur Autobody Repair and had also worked as a shipper for Hartz Mountain. Harley served 3 years in the Canadian Forces during W.W. II. He was a member of Branch 41 of the Royal Canadian Legion. Harley was a member of the Senior C. Club #37, Independent Order of Oddfellows (P.N.G.) of Elgin Encampment #20 (A.C.P.)

Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas where funeral service will be held Monday  at  1:00 p.m. Interment to follow in Union Cemetery. Visitation on Sunday  from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the charity of choice.
