McDonald, J. Jack

McDOnald (186x250)McDonald, J. Jack of St. Thomas, passed away suddenly, on Thursday, August 7th, 2014, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital, in his 86th year. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy Isabel (Reynolds) McDonald (1993) and much loved father of Robert “Rob” and his wife Penny McDonald of St. Thomas. Loved grandfather of Ryan, Jessica and Aaron. Predeceased by his brother Daniel McDonald. Jack was born in Rama Township on September 27th, 1928, the son of the late Arnold and Irene McDonald.  He was a long time employee of the City of St. Thomas and formerly worked for Silverwoods and for Comfort Bus Lines as a driver. He continued his driving later in life while driving his grandchildren to sporting events and other commitments. He was their biggest supporter. He was a member of the Centennial Sports Club and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #41. He enjoyed baseball and hockey and was an avid St. Thomas Stars fan. He enjoyed spending time with family and with friends and always had a smile and a story. He was a faithful member of Holy Angels Parish.

Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas for visitation on Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Prayers will be recited  at the funeral home on Sunday at  4:00 p.m. The Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Angels’ Church on Monday at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Holy Angels’ Cemetery. Remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society.

    Rob we are so sorry to hear of the passing of your dad. He will be missed by so many. He always had a smile and time to talk for a while. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. We are leaving for holidays on Sunday and will not be able to attend the funeral, but wanted you to know that we are all thinking of you.
