Munroe, Helen Blanche

Munroe-Helen Blanche of Caressant Care Home, St. Thomas, passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 2, 2016, at the age of 94. Beloved wife of the late Stewart Russell Munroe (1974) and dearly loved mother of Brian Thomas Munroe of R.R. 1 Sparta, Sandra Lee Baskin (Ron) of Niagara-on-the-Lake. Loved grandmother of Angela Munroe (Charlie), Amanda Munroe (Ryan) and Shawn Baskin (Heather) Darcy Baskin (Melissa) and great grandmother of Colin Wright and Madison, Connor, Maeven and Francine Baskin. Dear sister of Betty Bowcott and Connie Newman. Predeceased by brothers Herb Chase, Harold Chase and sisters May Hutchison. Helen was born in Frances, Saskatchewan on October 12, 1921, the daughter of the late Laurence and Hilda Chase. She lived in Chatham from 1946-1950. Helen was a retired teacher with Thames Valley (formerly the Elgin County Board of Education). She was a member of the Superannuated Teachers, a Past President of the Women Teachers Association (Elgin County) and Past President of the Superannuated Teachers Association. She was a longtime member of the Naturalist Club.
The family will friends at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas on Saturday, July 9th from 11:00-12:00 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Helen’s life will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place, with interment of ashes in Union Cemetery.
