Small, Dorothy May-went to be with her Lord on Wednesday, March 20th, 2013, after a short illness, in her 91st year. She was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church and a faithful contributor to the Ladies of Power Group. She retired from Andersons Department store in 1987 after more than 35 years of loyal service. She will be lovingly remembered by her brother Edward Small, nieces Sharon (Rick) Baker of Strathroy, Mary Lo (Garry) Lay of Edmonton, Nancy Small of London and Bill, Dan and Tom Small, all of Vancouver, B.C. Also remembered by Norine Small.

Visitation will be held from 10:00-11:00 a.m. on Monday at Eastwood Baptist Church, 400 Wellington St., St. Thomas followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Private interment in St. Thomas Cemetery. Gajdos, Susanna

Susanna went to be with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ on Tuesday, March 19, 2013 after a lengthy struggle with the effects of three major strokes. She will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 53 years, Edward; children, Rev. Larry (Debbie), and Anita; grandsons: Joshua, Daniel, Timothy, Philip, Nathanael, and Matthew Gajdos; sister, Maria (Erich) Bormann of Windsor. She is survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Susanna was pre-deceased by her father, Michael Dietrich (2007); mother, Susanna nee Dienesch (1981), and sisters, Katharina (1944) and Marlene (1969). She was born in Romania, moved to Rodney, and spent most of her life in St. Thomas.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 am with the funeral service at 11:00 am on Friday, March 22, 2013 at William’s Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St Thomas with interment to follow at the Rodney Cemetery with Rev. Don Schieman of Redeemer Lutheran Church, St. Thomas and Grace Lutheran Church, West Lorne officiating. As expressions of sympathy donations may be made to Lutheran Bible Translators or Haiti Lutheran Mission Society.

Clark, Robert William of St. Thomas and formerly of Lambeth, passed away on Monday, March 18th, 2013, at the St. ThomasElgin General Hospital, peacefully, in his 78th year. Dearly loved husband of Dorothy Marie (Donaldson) Clark and loved father of William “John” Clark of St. Thomas and Judy and her husband Steve Ercolino of Milton. Loved grandfather of Justina and Austen Ercolino, Tammy Stevenson and Amorae Russell-Clark. Dear brother of Raymond “Sandy” and his wife Grace Clark and Archie Clark and his wife Judith. Predeceased by 3 sisters Marjorie Abray , Doris Van De Wetering and Peggy Shimla. Sadly missed by a number of brothers and sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Bob was born in London, Ontario on January 29th, 1936, the son of the late William and Helen (Black) Clark. Bob had many great years working for the Department of Highways of Ontario and then as a foreman for Westminster Township.

Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas where funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Cremation to follow, with interment of ashes in Elmdale Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to the A.L.S. Society, the Alzheimer Society of Elgin or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Thorpe, Carole Elizabeth of St. Thomas, passed away suddenly, while undergoing treatment with cancer, on Sunday, March 17th, 2013, at the St. ThomasElgin General Hospital, in her 61st year. Dearly loved wife of Dr. Bill Thorpe. Fiercely proud mother of Marnie and Paul Merritt, Brendan and Lyona Lunter, Leeann Lunter and Kevin Lunter (Megan McIntyre). Dearly loved “Gramma Camera” to Kennedy, Logan and Mallory Merritt. Dear sister and sister-in-law of Kathy and Ray Burningham, Terry and Gerri McTavish and Julie McTavish. Predeceased by a brother Ted McTavish (2008). Carole was born in London on September 21st, 1952, the daughter of the late Ernie and Marion (Sutton) McTavish. She was a long-time employee of the Children’s Aid Society of London . Carole was a very talented photographer and enjoyed golf with her husband as a member of the Belmont Golf Club. Carole was a deeply dedicated mother passionately involved in all of her family’s endeavours.

In celebration of Carole’s life there will be a public visitation at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas on Thursday, March 21st from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A private family celebration of Carole’s life to be held at a later date. Remembrances would be appreciated to the Canadian Cancer Society.

Karn – Joyce (Dowler) of St. Thomas passed away on Saturday March 15, 2013 at the St. ThomasElgin General Hospital in her 83rd year. Beloved wife of the late Jack Karn (2006) and loving mother of John and his wife Henrietta Karn of R.R.3 St. Thomas, Barb and her husband Walt Molinaro of R.R. 5 St. Thomas and David and his wife Linda Karn of R.R. 1 Sparta. Much loved grandmother of Ryan, Kyle and Tyler Karn, Darrin, Luke and Mitchell Molinaro and Leanna and Miranda Karn. Predeceased by brother Bob Dowler (2010). Loved sister-in-law of Priscilla Dowler (Vic Hindley) of Union. Dear sister-in-law of Eva Graham (Red), Eunice Norman, Corlee Brown, Yvonne Karn and brother-in-law of Bob Karn (Barb). Joyce was born in St. Thomas on December 17th, 1930, the daughter of the late George and Winnifred (Harrison) Dowler. She owned and operated Dowler-Karn Ltd., with her late husband Jack and her family. Joyce enjoyed life but cherished her grandchildren, the family cottage on Lake Temiskaming and their private collection of petroleum memorabilia.

The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The funeral service to celebrate Joyce’s life will be held at First United Church (corner of St. George and Curtis Sts.) on Thursday at 1:00 p.m. Cremation to follow. Dearly loved partner of Randy Garrett and loved mother of Chrisanne McCombs (William) of Woodstock. Dear step-mother of Mike Garrett (Sherry) and Ashley Anderson (Phil). Dear sister of Michael Erle and step-sister of Mark Spencer. Loved grandmother of Dominic, Autumn, Ayden, Alysia and MacKinlay.Shirley was born in Toronto on July 28th, 1956. She worked at Medtech, London.

A public memorial service to celebrate Shirley’s life will be held at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Cremation has taken place. Visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:00-11:00 a.m. Remembrances may be made to the M.S. Society.

De Boer, Feitze Jan “John” of Caressant Care Home, St. Thomas, passed away peacefully, on Thursday, March 14th, 2013, at his late residence, in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of Nellie (Groeneweg) De Boer and loved father of Peter De Boer (Cheryl) and Mark De Boer (Tammy), all of St. Thomas, Judy Foster (Alan) of Wallaceburg and Tina Cunningham (Neal) of Greenbush, Virginia. Dear brother of Tjeerd De Boer of Holland Margaret Overduin (Jan) of Kitchener. Predeceased by a brother Sjoerd De Boer. Sadly missed by 23 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. John was born in Holland on September 14th, 1931, the son of the late Pier and Janke (Kampen) De Boer. He came to Canada in 1950. John worked at the Wingham District Hospital as a purchasing agent until retirement in 1995. He was a member of the Living Hope Church .

Dear nephew of David Herman, Gertie Fewster and Wilma Young. Brian was born on September 10th, 1957. He worked at Masco Canada.

Ross, Archie Murray of St. Thomas, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, March 13th, 2013, at his late residence, in his 82nd year. Beloved husband of 59 years of Marie (Lavoie) Ross and dearly loved father of Susan Tale of St. Thomas, Robert Ross of St. Thomas, Dawn Smith (Murray) of Wallacetown and Donna Bradford (Jim) of St. Thomas. Dear brother of John Ross of British Columbia, Bruce Ross of Ottawa and Blanche VanHee of Rodney. Sadly missed by 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Archie worked for a short time for the St. Thomas Police and then Northern Telecom. He served in the Navy.

A public Memorial service to celebrate Archie’s life will be held at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. Cremation has taken place. Visitation at the funeral home on Saturday from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario.

Duda, Miroslawa “Mary” (Masniak) of Caressant Care Home, St. Thomas, passed away on Tuesday, March 12th, 2013, at her late residence, in her 92nd year. Beloved wife of the late Nykola “Nick” Duda and loved father of Alexander Duda of St. Thomas, Andrew Duda (Carolyn) of St. Thomas and Oksana “Roxana” Leppinen (Bruce) of Waterdown. Much loved “Baba” of Nika, Katrina, Adam, Sarah and Nicola. Sadly missed by a number of family in Canada, the U.S.A. and the Ukraine. Mary was born in the Ukraine on November 3rd, 1921. She came to Canada at Pier 21 in 1949. Mary worked in Halifax hospitals, married Nick in Halifax 1950 then moved to St. Thomas shortly afterwards and remained for the next 63 years. She worked in housekeeping at the St. ThomasElgin General Hospital and then as a private housekeeper. Mary was greatly respected in the community and neighbourhood always feeding everyone her wonderful cabbage rolls which were always in demand.

Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas until Friday morning and then to Christ the King Ukrianian Catholic Church,707 Nelson St., London, Ontario where Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow in St. Peter’s Cemetery, London. Visitation at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:30-4:30 and 7-9 p.m. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario or the V.O.N. Beloved wife of Harold Parker Talbot and loved mother of Jim Fishbach (Eva) of Welland, Glenda Shilleto (Geoff) of London, Ruby Howe (Andrew) of Lobo, Denny Talbot (Lorraine) of Oshawa and Jeff Talbot (Cheryl) of Sarnia. Beloved sister of the late Dallas Barnes and sadly missed by brother-in-law of Bill Barnes and family. Loving sister-in-law of the late Jim and Evelyn McCracken. She will be missed by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Bill and Muriel Talbot. Sadly missed by 13 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren, 2 great, great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins. Bea was born in St. Thomas on December 15th, 1922. She was a retired R.N.A. and worked at Providence Manor in Kingston. Bea was a member of Grace United Church, the U.C.W., Ochre-Rainbow Unit.

Alvaro, Samuel Peter “Sam” of Caressant Care Home, St. Thomas, passed away Saturday, March 9th, 2013, peacefully, surrounded by his family at the St. ThomasElgin General Hospital, in his 95th year. Beloved husband of Marie (Walters) Alvaro and loved father of David and his wife Ann Alvaro of St. Thomas and Rick and his wife Lisa Alvaro of Union. Loved grandfather of Craig (fiancée Eiki), Lisa (Scott), Tony and Andrea (Lionel) and great grandfather of Michael, Charlie, Carter, Adam and Rui. Dear brother of Jimmy Alvaro (Piovena) of Toronto, Carm McNea of St. Thomas, Rose Braden (Phil) of Hamilton, Bill Alvaro (Mary) of St. Thomas, Pat DeCandido (Jack) of London. Predeceased by five sisters Pauline “Polly” Frank (2013), Mary Dophin (Jack), Grace Spruce (John), Marguerite Alvaro and Ann Barfett (Stanley) and also three brothers, Frank (Christine), Joseph and Dominic (Deana) Alvaro. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Sam was born in St, Thomas on August 13th, 1918, the son of the late Vincent and Angeline Alvaro. He was retired from the New York Central Railway. He was a member of the U.T.U. and the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen. Sam was 50 year member of Talbot Lodge #546 A.F. and A.M., the London Lodge of Perfection, London Chapter of the Rose Croix, Moore Sovereigh Consistory, Scottish Rite and a 32 degree Mason. He was a member of Hillbilly Clan #59, Mocha Temple Shrine and Provo Corps. Sam served in the Army during W.W.II.

The family will receive friends at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas on Wednesday from 2:30-4:30 and 7-9 p.m. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Anne’s Church on Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Holy Angels’ Cemetery. Prayers will be recited at the funeral home on Wednesday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. A Memorial service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday evening at 6:45 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the charity of choice.

Much loved Grampy of Riley, Jared, Frankie and Dezzy. Dear brother of Randy Fulton (Colleen) of Ottawa, Barbara Tetreault (Jacques) of Quebec and Sandra Fluet (Andre) of Quebec. Predeceased by a brother Warren Fulton and a sister Cindy Mabee. Sadly missed by a number of nieces and nephews. Robert was born in Halifax, N.S.on December 9th, 1947, the son of the late Murray and Marjorie (Smith) Fulton.
