Paddon- Wayne, July 21, 1931- February 14, 2015. Beloved husband of Lois for 61 years. Loving and Adored Father, to Bob (Trish), Dr. Connie Robinson (Cam) and John (Rikki). Proud grandfather to Cydney and Jeremy (Vancouver), Jordan, Jessica and Meghan (St. Thomas), Mitchell, Connor and Mallory (Burlington). Wayne started his teaching career in 1951 and taught both elementary and high school history courses locally until his retirement in 1986 from East Elgin where he was principal. He was an avid local historian and published a number of books on our local history. He was fascinated by our Railway Heritage. Wayne loved golf and basketball. He played basketball in the city league until he was into his 50’s and was a long standing member at the St. Thomas Golf Club up until last year. Wayne loved St. Thomas and was always involved in community projects, too numerous to mention them all. It was important to him to contribute to his community. His greatest joy was his grandchildren. He was so proud of them all and their accomplishments. There was nothing that couldn’t be rescheduled to accommodate them. It was never too late to call if they needed a ride. Never too busy if they needed him. They shall miss him dearly.
A service to celebrate Wayne’s life will be held at St. John’s Anglican Church on Flora Street, Saturday, February 21st at 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations made to Canada Southern Railway Station or St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital Foundation. “We love you Weiner and shall miss you dearly. Godspeed” Williams Funeral Home 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas entrusted with the arrangements.
