Potter (158x250)Potter, Orley “Wayne” of St. Thomas, a 45 year cancer survivor, passed away peacefully, on Saturday, June 28th, 2014, at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital after suffering a stroke 6 weeks ago, in his 74th year. Dearly loved husband of Mary Elizabeth (Gillies) Potter and loved father of Brett Potter of St. Thomas and Robert Jacobs (Leanne Henry) and family of West Lorne. Dear  brother of Rod Potter (Barbara) of Canning, N.S. and nephew of Kathleen Gregory of Glencoe and Audrey O’Neill of Dorchester. Dear brother-in-law of Goldie Gillies of Ingersoll. Sadly missed by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. Wayne was born in Mordin, N.S. on September 23, 1940, the son of the late Edgar St. Clair and Bertha Muriel (Dempsey) Potter. He retired from G.M. Diesel after over 30 years. He served in the Canadian Army , R.C.R.-R.C.E.M.E. Wayne was a Past Master of Talbot Lodge #546 A.F. and A.M., Past President of the Hi-Ro Shrine Club, Past Provost  Marshall and a member of Royal Arch Masons, York Rite, Palestine Chapter # 54 R.A.M. and Burleigh Preceptory #21.

Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas where funeral service will be held  Thursday at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Don Chisholm officiating.  Interment to follow in Elmdale Cemetery. Visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A Memorial service will be conducted at the funeral home Wednesday at 6:45 p.m., by Officers and Members of Talbot Lodge #546. Remembrances may be made to the Shriners Hospitals for Children or the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Ontario .
