REID: Mrs. Violet M. “Vi” (nee Harris), of St. Thomas

REID, Mrs. Violet M. “Vi” (nee Harris) of the Valleyview Home, St. Thomas, passed away peacefully at her residence on Tuesday, July 2, 2013, in her 100th year. Beloved wife of the late Jack S. Reid (1997). Dearly loved mother of Jack L. Reid (Evelyn) of St. Thomas, and Donald G. Reid (Patricia) of London. Loving grandmother of David Reid (Karen), Drew Reid (Karen), Sherry Gosselin (Bill), and Heidi Reid (Ron). Also survived by 4 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Vi was the last surviving member of her own immediate family, having been predeceased by a sister, Edith Southern, and four brothers, Herbert, Harry, Arthur and Rev. Robert Harris. Born in Toronto, ON, December 21, 1913, daughter of the late Herbert and Annie (nee White) Harris, she came to St. Thomas as a child. For many years, Vi was associated with her husband in the operation of Reid’s Paint Service, St. Thomas. She was a life member of Central Star Chapter #57, O.E.S., St. Thomas.

Relatives and friends will be received by the family on Wednesday evening, July 3rd from 7:00-9:00 p.m. at the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160). A private service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, July 4th, followed by interment in Elmdale Memorial Park. Flowers gratefully declined. If so desired, memorial donations to the charity of one’s choice will be appreciated.
