Roberts, John of Extendicare, Port Stanley and formerly of St. Thomas

Roberts, John of Extendicare, Port Stanley and formerly of St. Thomas, passed away on Friday, June 21st, 2013, peacefully at his late residence, in his 89th year. Dearly loved husband of Elizabeth “Liz” Roberts and loved father of Gary and his wife Carol Roberts of Burlington, Lily and her husband Robert Renaud of Arkona, late Linda Whelan and her husband Jack of Bothwell, Sandra and her husband Steve Smith of Port Franks, Marilyn Roberts of St. Thomas, Terry Roberts of London and Nila and her husband David Neef of St. Thomas. Dear brother of Marion Ball of St. Thomas. Predeceased by 6 brothers and 3 sisters. Sadly missed by several grandchildren and great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews. Dear son-in-law of Gail and Bill Klein-Harr of Port Stanley. John was born in St. Thomas on September 30th, 1924. He was an employee of National Grocers for 35 years (1950-1985). He also worked for Canada Bread and as a youth with Standard Drugs. He was also a former member and staff at the Elgin Regiment-Sgt. Mess and worked over 22 years as a bar steward and was a member of the Branch 41 of the Royal Canadian Legion , where he worked as a bar steward for 16 years. John was also a member of Branch 410 of the Royal Canadian Legion, Port Stanley.

Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin St., St. Thomas where funeral service will be held Thursday at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow in Elmdale Cemetery. Visitation Wednesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Remembrances may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the Parkinson’s Society.
