Roberts – Rev. Clarence Alanson of Parkwood Hospital, London and formerly of St. Thomas passed away peacefully at his late residence on Monday, January 30th, 2017, in his 92nd year. Beloved son of the late Harry and Sylvia (Edison) Roberts. He was the last of his family, predeceased by his siblings Archie, Charles, Grant and Evelyn Roberts. He will be lovingly remembered by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends. Clarence was born in St. Thomas on November 8th, 1925. He served in the Canadian Army from 1943-1946. He graduated from McMaster University in 1951 and McMaster Divinity College in 1955. Clarence was a Baptist minister and preached at Ormond and Winchester Baptist Church, First Baptist Church, Bracebridge, Riverdale Baptist, Brantford, First Delhi and Teeterville Baptist Church, Carlton Place and Almonte Baptist and Centre Street Baptist, St. Thomas. He was in involved with Elgin-St. Thomas Family and Children’s Services and the Elgin Children’s Foundation. Clarence was also former Padre at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #41.
Resting at Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin Street, St. Thomas where funeral services will be held Thursday, February 2nd, 2017 at 11:00am. Private interment to follow in South Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home prior to the service from 10:00-11:00am. Memorial donations may be made to Centre Street Baptist Church.
