Stanley, Ray Leslie

Stanley – Ray Leslie of Caressant Care Home, St. Thomas passed away peacefully at the St. Thomas-Elgin General Hospital on Tuesday, October 6th, 2015, in his 84th year. Beloved husband of the late Margaret Doreen (Black) Stanley (April 20th, 2015) and dearly loved father of Laurie Hayman (Gary) of Aylmer and the late Leslie Locke (Dale). Dear grandfather of Alexander Locke of Ottawa and Amanda Locke of London. Dear brother of Velma Anderson of London, Jean Hoffmayer of Mitchell, and Roy Stanley of London. Predeceased by his siblings George Stanley, Clark Stanley, Mabel Robbins and Marlene Colling. Lovingly remembered by several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ray was born in Bruce County on November 5th, 1931, son the late William and Viola (Thompson) Stanley. He was a retired school teacher and was a member of the Retired Teachers of Elgin. Ray was also an active member in the St. Thomas Optimist Club, Aylmer Curling Club and the Belmont Golf Club. Ray and his wife were active members of Knox Presbyterian Church for many years.

A public memorial service to celebrate Ray’s life will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church on Saturday, October 24th, 2015 at 1:00pm. Cremation has taken place with interment of ashes in Elmdale Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church prior to the service from 12:00-1:00pm. Memorial donations may be made to Optimist International Canada or charity of one’s choice. Williams Funeral Home, 45 Elgin Street, St. Thomas entrusted with arrangements.
