WINGER, After a hard fought home stretch, Ross Alexander Winger, 71, of St. Thomas, placed his final triactor on Saturday, November 22, 2014, passing away at LHSC, University Hospital. Husband of Melsa (nee Gudgeon) Winger. Father of Dr. Quinton Alexander Winger (Kimberly) of Fort Collins, CO, and Jodi Nicole Beattie (Scott) of St. Thomas. Grandfather of Tilson Scott Beattie, Ella Ross Winger, Luke Alexander Winger, and Karis Nicole Beattie. Brother of Murray Stewart Winger of London. Brother-in-law of Sandra and Bob Hogg and Lea James (late Percy). Uncle of Cassie Hogg and the late Justin Hogg. Born in St. Thomas, ON, March 4, 1943, he was the son of the late C. A. “Sandy” and Irene (nee McGaw) Winger. Ross was the former owner of Ziebart, St. Thomas, and a former sales associate at Eastway Ford and Elgin Chrysler Ltd., St. Thomas. Ross was a former member of the Port Stanley Lion’s Club, Talbot Lodge #546, A.F. & A.M., St. Thomas, and the Hi Ro Shrine Club, St. Thomas. In keeping with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of Ross’ life will be held at First Yarmouth (Plains) Baptist Church, 6071 Fairview Road, R.R.#4, St. Thomas (corner of Fairview Road & Sparta Line) on Saturday, November 29th at 2:00 p.m. Relatives and friends will be received at the church on Friday, November 28th from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. and also on Saturday, November 29th from 12:00-2:00 p.m. Private interment of Ross’ cremated remains will be made in First Yarmouth (Plains) Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorial donations to First Yarmouth (Plains) Baptist Church or the Port Stanley Lion’s/Lionesses Club will be appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Sifton Funeral Home, 118 Wellington St., St. Thomas (519-631-1160).
