I noticed on the way back into town today coming from Talbotville, that the majority of the signs on Highway 4 as you come down the hill are grotty. The sign to the airport for instance isn’t clear, it looks dirty. Surely if we want people to come to St. Thomas and love us for all that we are (well maybe not all of us) we should make the signs are clear and easily readable.
It is akin to having a wonderful house with beautiful carpets, big screen TV’s and gold taps but having the outside of the house looking like a derelict. We need to make St. Thomas beautiful but it won’t make a difference how lovely Talbot St is if the outskirts of the city looks like Detroit.
And as the Five Man Electrical Band once sang…
Sign Sign everywhere a sign
Blocking out the scenery breaking my mind
Do this, don’t do that, can’t you read the sign
