What are the Best Cooking Oils?

Personal Note from Peggy

Hi ,

After our amazing vacation last week, John left on a bachelor party weekend to Chicago and I had a different kind of vacation at home with the cats and my couch and my books this past weekend. It was amazing!!

In my recent workshop, there were a lot of questions about which oils are healthy to eat and to cook with. Today’s feature article sets the oil record straight! Check it out!

P.S. A great big “Welcome!” to all the new readers who joined our community since last week! You’re going to love the resources that you’ll find here to help you get to happier and healthier… Enjoy!

“Well it’s been 6 weeks since I’ve been participating in Dr. Malone’s Coaching Program. I have to say I can’t remember the last time I truly focused on “me”. This program focuses on what I’ve been neglecting for sometime… my overall health and well being.

Dr. Peggy has coached me to better meal planning including cutting my trips to the grocery store to once a week. The other plan which goes on my fridge is the “other plans” which include exercise planning. I’ve always wanted to go to Yoga and now because it’s on the planner, I go two or three times a week. Further, the other stuff that I’ve always wanted to do, Dr. Peggy is coaching me to see that I am on the right track to accomplishing those things.

It’s very gratifying checking off small things of a list each week that are making a big impact on my over all well being and health. I’ve done more for myself in 6 weeks then I’ve done in a year. Now I call that a great investment in myself that goes beyond a new purse in my closet!

If and when you’re ready to make a commitment to yourself I know Dr. Peggy through her coaching program can help you make it happen because she did with me.”

Can you believe that the summer is coming to an end already? It seems to have sped by even faster this year.

Now that Labour Day weekend has passed and the kids have headed back to school, it’s the time of year when many people start getting back into routine and ramping things up out of a slower ‘summer’ mode.

How about in your world? Do you head back to a more structured routine after Labour day?

It’s the perfect time, in my opinion, to take stock of where you are in your current health and wellness situation and where you want to be before the new year.

We have 4 months left in 2013 and when you put your mind to it and lean in, you can accomplish amazing things in 4 months.

I want to let you know about something I’m putting together that will help you to really lean in and take control of your health if you are ready this fall.

I am creating a special Health and Wellness Private Inner Circle that will allow those people who are ready to make a change and who are looking for the information that they need and the tools that will be helpful as they start on a path to better health and wellness.

The new program is launching soon and I want to give you a chance to get in before anyone else!

What are the Best Cooking Oils?
By: Dr. Peggy Malone

In my recent health workshop, there were a lot of questions about fats, healthy fats, oils and which oils should be eaten or used to cook with.

There is much confusion and misunderstanding on this topic so I want to clear it up so you can get cooking!

What is a Smoke Point?

First of all, let’s learn about something called a ‘smoke point’. This is also known as the flash point and it is the temperature when an oil goes from good to bad. It is the temperature at which the oil begins to break down and produce bluish smoke. When an oil reaches its smoke point, the nutrients begin to oxidize. The molecular structure changes and the oil breaks down into unhealthy compounds.

So which oils can you heat up and stay healthy at the same time?
