On Wednesday May 30, 2012 St Thomas Police arrested and charged a 15 year old male youth with three (3) counts of assault. The charges were laid following a complaint from the youth’s ex girlfriend. The youth was released on conditions that included a future court date.
Motor vehicle collision
Shortly after 4:30PM Wednesday May 30, 2012 St Thomas Police attended a motor vehicle collision on First Avenue. Police say a 37 year old female motorist traveling North on First Avenue struck the back of a second vehicle that was travelling in the same direction. The female driver was charged with careless driving. She was issued a summons to appear in court.
At 6:54PM Wednesday May 30, 2012 St Thomas Police drug enforcement unit assisted by officers from uniform patrol conducted a traffic stop on Talbot Street. While searching the vehicle and occupants officers located 7.0 grams of cocaine on a 37 year old female passenger. The accused was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking. She was held overnight at police headquarters pending a Thursday May 31, 2012 court appearance.
Impaired driver arrested
At about 2:43AM Thursday May 31, 2012 St Thomas Police conducted traffic stop on Talbot Street. While speaking with the 27 year old male driver the officer determined his ability to operate the vehicle was impaired by alcohol. The driver was arrested and transported to police headquarters where he provided breath samples in excess of twice the legal limit. The accused was later released on conditions that included a future court date.
