Motor vehicle Collisions
St. Thomas Police responded to 6 Motor Vehicle Collisions yesterday. Some were minor in nature and one very serious involving a motorcycle and car. With the spring season here that means construction season is also here. Police are reminding everyone that when travelling on roads you may be unfamiliar with as a result of many detours, please be patient. Take your time, watch for vehicles and make your turning movements safely.
Taxi cab Robbery
A Red Line Taxi driver suffered minor injuries to his hand yesterday evening after having a knife put to his neck by a fare he had picked up at an East Ave address. At approximately 10:30pm the accused, 34 year old Todd Hanes had been picked up and asked the driver to take him to the hospital. Before reaching the destination he pulled a knife on the driver and asked for all his money. A struggle ensued and the accused fled the scene in the area of the hospital.
Through the assistance of the OPP canine unit and our police resources the accused was arrested 2 hours later. He is being held in custody and charged with Robbery, Transportation Fraud and Breach of Undertaking.
A 32 year old man was arrested on Wednesday after an argument with his 31 year old wife. The argument was over vehicle repairs. A television remote was used to assault her. The accused was arrested and charged with assault with a weapon and later released with conditions. The female did not suffer any injuries.
Cars Damaged on Forest Ave
Four vehicles were damaged sometime between Wednesday night and Thursday morning on Forest Ave. The unknown suspects appeared to use a sharp object to scratch the vehicles from one end to the other. Breach of Probation
In the early evening hours of Wednesday May 15, 2013, Police attended a Chester St address in regards to a disturbance. Upon arrival Police spoke with a 51 Year old St. Thomas man. It was discovered that the man was on conditions not to associate with the persons residing at that particular address and was not allowed to have consumed alcohol. The male was found doing both and was arrested for breaching his conditions. He was charged with 3 counts of breaching his Probation order and held for a bail hearing.
Female charged with being intoxicated and possession of drugs
St. Thomas Police arrested a 29 year old St. Thomas female yesterday after receiving reports of an intoxicated female walking on Talbot St in the area of Mc Donald’s. At 7:00pm the female was arrested and charged with being intoxicated in a public place, and while being searched over 3 grams of marihuana was located. She was also charged with possession of a controlled substance. She was released once she was sober.
