Attempted Abduction

On Saturday, March 8th, 2014 at approximately 3:30 p.m. the St. Thomas Police investigated an attempted abduction on Owaissa Street, after two 8 year old girls were approached by a man, in an older model full size red pick-up truck. The man asked the girls if they wanted to go for a ride and when they refused he exited his vehicle and attempted to pull them inside. The girls ran away from the man to a nearby residence and contacted the police and the man quickly left the area in his truck. The suspect is described as a Caucasian male in his 40’s, approximately 5’10” tall with black curly/bushy hair and a beard. He was wearing a black ¾ length coat at the time. An appeal to the public has been made for anyone who may have witnessed this incident or with information regarding the suspect or his vehicle to contact the St. Thomas Police.


At approximately 11:00 pm on March 8th, 2014 police attended a south-side residence regarding a street disturbance. Upon arrival it was determined that during the disturbance, an 18 year old male had assaulted a 16 year old female. The male was subsequently arrested for assault and transported to the police station where he was later released with a future court date. The victim was transported to STEG Hospital but her injuries would be described as minor.
