Commercial Vehicle Inspections In St. Thomas

On Thusday July 21st, 2016, the St. Thomas Police Service joined forces with the Ministry of Transportation Ontario to enhance road safety in our community.
A temporary commercial vehicle inspection location was set up in the city. Police officers conducting traffic stops directed trucks to the site where four MTO officers were completing CVSA level 1 inspections.

The results were as follows:
19 Inspections
8 vehicles declared out of service (taken off the road)
1 set of plates were removed off a truck
6 tickets were issued
12 warnings were given

Issues found with the vehicles included cracked suspensions (3), flat tires (4), overweight vehicles, load security, inoperative brakes, loose steering components, manual slack adjusters, no pre-trip inspections, wrong class license, missing placards on dangerous goods loads.
