Couple arrested for shoplifting

On June 20, 2012 at 3:20 pm St. Thomas police attended the Real Canadian Superstore in regards to a theft.
A 29 year old man and a 21 year old woman both of St. Thomas entered the self checkout kiosk and only paid for a select amount of items. The remaining unpaid items were concealed in a bag totaling approximately $22.00. When they exited the store they were approached by a loss prevention officer who subsequently placed them under arrest for theft. The man fled the scene but was located a short distance away by police.
Police continued the arrest of the man and woman. They were transported to the police station for processing.
The female was charged with theft under $5000.00 and released on conditions that include a future court date.
The man was held in custody charged with theft under $5000.00, breach of probation and breach of his recognizance for failing to keep the peace from previous matters.
