Cyclist Clipped by Mirror

St. Thomas Police responded to a traffic complaint yesterday where a small group of cyclists were crowded by a passing vehicle. One of the cyclists was clipped on the shoulder by the vehicle’s passenger side rear view mirror. Luckily there were no injuries to the cyclist however, police would like to remind drivers that laws require drivers to keep at least one metre between the motor vehicle and the bicycle when passing cyclists on Ontario roads, where possible. The penalty is a $110 set fine and two demerit points; make the mistake in a community safety zone, and the set fine goes up to $180.

My Grandaughter was also injured this week and the motorist was only concerned about any scratches to her car!
