Disqualified Driving

Officers on Patrol attempted to stop a motor vehicle on White Street at approximately 2:46am on September 13, 2016. The driver of the motor vehicle eventually stopped however just prior to stopping a brown beer bottle was thrown out the window. Investigation revealed that the registered owner of the vehicle would be 85 years old however was now deceased. The operator of the vehicle was identifying himself as that person and was immediately placed under arrest.

Through investigation it was determined that the operator was the son of the registered owner, a 55-year old St. Thomas man who had three driver’s licence suspensions, two as a result of previous impaired charges and dangerous driving charges and another for unpaid fines. He was administered a roadside breath test where he registered a warn. He faces two counts of driving while disqualified, one count of driving while suspended, operate motor vehicle with open alcohol, and obstruct Police. He was later released with a future court date.
