On August 12, 2015 the St. Thomas Police Service Drug Enforcement Unit completed a lengthy investigation resulting in numerous drug possession/trafficking charges as well as firearms offences.
At approximately 9:30pm a traffic stop was initiated on Talbot Street near Centennial Ave, after a drug transaction was observed earlier in the evening. The passenger, 28 year-old Dennis Churchill of St. Thomas was arrested for possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and was found to be in possession of 5 different types of drugs.
As a result of the traffic stop and the continuing investigation, a search warrant was executed at a residence on Queen St in St. Thomas. The search uncovered a 22 cal. hand gun, BB pistol, flick knives, brass knuckles and other drug related items. Drugs recovered throughout the investigation were, Crack Cocaine, Crystal Methamphetamine, Marihuana, Hydromorphone and Morphine.
Charged in this incident is 28 year-old Dennis Churchill of St. Thomas, with possession for the purpose of trafficking X5, Possession of a restricted Firearm, Possession of a restricted firearm contrary to prohibition X3, Possession of a prohibited weapon X4, and Breach of Recognizance X3.
Also charged is 23 year-old Carly Wright of St. Thomas. She faces charges of Possession of a restricted Firearm, Possession of a prohibited weapon X4, and Possession of a controlled substance X2.
They were both held in custody pending a bail hearing. The driver of the motor vehicle was arrested and released unconditionally.
