Fake name, stealing and running from Loss Prevention

A 21-year old female from St. Thomas was found a short distance away hiding in the bush behind the grocery store she stole from. Shortly before 6:00pm on November 28, 2016, Police received a call from Loss Prevention working within the store who observed a female enter the store, load up a bunch of reusable grocery bags and exit the store without paying for the items. When Loss Prevention advised her she was under arrest, she fled on foot. Police located the female lying down in the wooded area behind the store where she provided the Officer with a fake name.

The female faces charges of: Theft under $5000.00, Escape lawful custody, and Obstruct Police. She was held in custody pending a bail hearing. The total value of items taken was over $700.00 and was all returned to the store.
