Fire at Downtown Business

At approximately 7:30 PM on December 17, 2015, St. Thomas Police and Fire responded to a Talbot Street business for a report of a fire. Upon arrival, the interior of the business was on fire. A male who had been inside the building was transported to St. Thomas – Elgin General Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. St. Thomas Fire extinguished the fire and investigated the cause.

The cause is believed to be electrical and not suspicious, but the investigation is continuing by the fire department’s Fire Prevention Officer. The male is recovering from minor injuries sustained while trying to extinguish the fire. There is no estimate of the amount of damage at this time.
